# Set up FiveMesh Portal

> Connect your Discord community, choose a public Portal address and enable personal player uploads.

FiveMesh Portal gives your community a public home and a place for players to upload images and videos. Players sign in with Discord, manage their own upload history and copy public CDN links to use in-game.

You configure Portal in the [FiveMesh dashboard](https://app.fivemesh.io). Players use the public Portal address you share with them.

## Prerequisites

* A [registered server](/account/servers) selected in the dashboard.
* An active plan or trial within the resource owner's server allowance.
* Portal access enabled for the resource owner's account.
* Permission to manage Portal in your workspace.
* A Discord account that can add FiveMesh to your community's Discord server.
* An active, configured [FiveMesh CDN](/cdn/setup) to enable player uploads.

<Note>
  Portal is enabled per customer account. If **Portal** is missing from the sidebar, check your selected server and workspace, then contact [support](https://discord.gg/wBJamWETxr) about access. Organization members also need access to the owner's server and Portal service.
</Note>

You can complete Portal setup before setting up CDN. The community page remains available, but player uploads need an active CDN.

## Create your Portal

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select your server">
    In the dashboard sidebar selector, choose **My account** or your organization, then select the registered server for this community.

    Open **Portal** under **Community**. Each registered server can have one Portal.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Activate Portal">
    Click **Activate Portal** for the selected server.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure the community">
    Enter your community name, description and address slug, then save and continue.

    The slug must be unique, contain 3–32 lowercase letters, numbers or hyphens, and start and end with a letter or number. Reserved names are unavailable. Use the availability result shown in the form.

    Your public address uses `https://portal.fivemesh.io/{slug}`. Copy the address generated by the dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect Discord">
    Follow the Discord connection flow, authorize FiveMesh and select the intended Discord server. If FiveMesh is already installed, use the existing-server option offered by the dashboard.

    Wait for the connection checks to complete. If verification fails, review the displayed reason and retry or reconnect.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete setup">
    Continue after Discord verification and click **Open Portal Dashboard** on the ready screen.

    Open the generated public address to confirm the community name, description and Discord connection before sharing it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Enable player uploads

Open **Portal** > **Medias**. Portal uses the resource owner's FiveMesh CDN automatically; you do not choose another CDN from this page.

1. Confirm that the displayed CDN is active and ready.
2. Turn on **Allow player uploads**.
3. Set **Maximum file size (MB)** and **Uploads per player per day**.
4. Choose the allowed image and video formats.
5. Set **Upload permissions** for Discord members or selected roles.
6. Click **Save media settings**.

Review [Portal operations](/portal/operations) for limits, role restrictions, blocked uploaders and optional expiration.

## Add your community branding

Open **Portal** > **Settings** to edit the community name, description and address, or set the logo and banner image URLs. Use HTTPS image URLs that players can open publicly, then save your changes.

Your logo and banner appear in Portal's shared FiveMesh layout.

Changing the Portal slug changes the address you share. Update your Discord messages and other links after saving a new address.

## Check the player experience

1. Open the public Portal address and choose **Continue with Discord**.
2. Sign in with an account that belongs to the connected Discord server and meets your role requirements.
3. Open **Media**, choose a permitted file and complete an upload.
4. Copy its URL and open the file.
5. In the customer dashboard, open **CDN** > **Objects**, browse `portal/media/` and inspect the uploaded file's custom metadata.

Share [Upload media through Portal](/portal/player-uploads) with players who need instructions.
