A Player Upload Portal gives your community a dedicated page for uploading images and videos to FiveMesh CDN. Players verify with Discord, upload from their browser and receive a public CDN URL. They do not need a FiveMesh customer account or access to your dashboard.

Availability

Player Upload Portals are included in every FiveMesh subscription plan. Uploaded files consume the CDN storage, request and bandwidth allowances included with the workspace subscription. The number of portals you can create follows the registered-server allowance of your plan. Custom subscriptions use the portal limit assigned to their plan.

Prerequisites

Before you create a portal, confirm:
  • The active workspace has trial or subscription access.
  • FiveMesh CDN is configured for the active workspace.
  • You are the workspace owner. Organization members can manage existing portals with the required CDN permissions, but cannot create one.
  • Discord is linked under Account > Connections.
  • Your linked Discord account owns or can manage the Discord server.
  • You can install the FiveMesh bot in that Discord server.
If the workspace belongs to an organization, switch to that organization before opening CDN. The portal belongs to the workspace owner and uses the organization’s shared CDN access.

Create the portal

1

Open Upload Portal

In the dashboard sidebar, open CDN, then select Upload Portal.
2

Start setup

Click Create portal. The dashboard shows your current portal count and the maximum allowed by the active subscription.
3

Connect the Discord server

Install the FiveMesh bot, enter the Discord server ID and click Verify.FiveMesh confirms that the bot is installed and that your linked Discord account owns or can manage the server. Verification also loads the Discord roles that can be used for portal access.
4

Choose who can upload

Allow every Discord server member or restrict access with selected roles.See Access rules for the difference between the available modes.
5

Configure the public page

Choose the portal name used in the public URL.For example, sunset-roleplay creates:
Portal names must contain 3 to 48 lowercase letters, numbers or hyphens. They cannot begin or end with a hyphen.
6

Configure uploads

Choose the destination folder, file retention, maximum file size and rolling per-player allowance.Review Upload settings before using a destination that is shared with another portal.
7

Review and activate

Confirm the Discord server, access rule, public URL and upload settings.Enable Activate the portal now if players should be able to upload as soon as setup completes, then click Create portal.

Access rules

Discord membership and roles control who can use the public page. For example, if Verified and Staff are selected:
  • Any selected role accepts a member with either Verified or Staff.
  • All selected roles accepts only a member who has both Verified and Staff.
FiveMesh checks membership and roles again when an upload starts. Discord role changes therefore apply to future uploads without a separate FiveMesh permission list.
Use Any server member for a community-wide portal. Use selected roles when Discord already controls whitelist, staff or event access.

Upload settings

Destination folder

The default destination is:
Files are stored directly in the selected folder. FiveMesh does not append player IDs or dates to the path. Use a relative path with lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens or underscores. Separate nested folders with /, for example:
Each uploaded file receives a randomly generated public name.

File retention

Files never expire by default. You can instead choose a retention period from 1 hour to 365 days. The public page tells players whether their file never expires or how long its URL remains available.
Portals with overlapping destination folders must use the same retention. Choose a separate folder when two portals need different retention periods.
Upload audit logs are separate from file retention. Logs always expire after 30 days.

Maximum file size

Choose a per-file limit from 1 MB to 256 MB. Use a lower limit for screenshots and other image-only workflows. Increase it when the portal needs to accept video.

Per-player allowance

Choose between 1 and 100 uploads per Discord user in a rolling 24-hour window. The window follows each player’s recent upload activity rather than resetting at a fixed time of day.

Supported media

Player Upload Portals accept:
  • PNG
  • JPEG and JPG
  • WebP
  • GIF
  • WebM
  • MP4
FiveMesh checks the declared media type, file size and file content before completing the upload. Renaming an unsupported file to an accepted extension does not make it valid.

What players see

Share the public portal URL with your community after activation. When a player opens it, they:
  1. Continue with Discord.
  2. Pass the configured membership and role checks.
  3. Choose or drag files into the page.
  4. Upload directly to the CDN delivery layer.
  5. Copy the generated public URLs.
Portal authentication is separate from FiveMesh customer authentication. Verifying with Discord does not create a customer account or grant dashboard access. The player can also see their latest 25 successful uploads from the last 30 days. This list is private to the signed-in Discord user and does not change the configured lifetime of the files.
